The One Heart, Two Homes Curriculum seeks specifically to help families to co-parent in a healthy manor after a divorce or split in the parental relationship. When the child and their best interest become the focus rather than controlling or getting back or hurting the other parent, the child has a higher chance of overcoming this adversity in their lives. Learn how to communicate effectively and with healthy boundaries so that you can be the best parent and/or stepparent you can be.
This course is perfect for parents who are raising children between two households. It features 33 guests which include teens, adult children of divorce and national experts. Topics including how to adjust after divorce, creating stability for children, co-parenting finances, understanding healthy boundaries, how to handle the hand-off, what if I have a difficult ex partner and much more! Also get real life examples and real solutions, hear from other co-parents who learned to make it work!
Parenting Teens for the Real world
When kids hit their teen years, parenting takes on a whole new dimension. As they struggle toward independence and autonomy, some dicy issues emerge. And the real world you want them to be ready for can make you shudder—kids today face life-and-death decisions long before they are on their own.
So what do you do? Hover over them so they won’t get hurt? Drill them so they’ll do the right thing? According to Foster Cline and Jim Fay, hovering and drilling won’t prepare teens for the real world because they learn responsibility like they learn everything else: through practice.
That’s where Love and Logic parenting comes in. Love means giving your teens opportunities to be responsible and empowering them to make their own decisions. Logic means allowing them to live with the natural consequences of their mistakes and showing empathy for the pain, disappointment, and frustration they will experience.
When you partner with Love & Logic, it’s a win-win situation. You win because you’ll learn to love in a healthy way and effectively guide your teens, without resorting to anger, threats and power struggles that will haunt them along the path to adulthood. And your teens win because they’ll learn responsibility and the logic of life by solving their own problems and acquiring the tools they’ll need to cope with the real world.” - Parenting Teens with Love and Logic
